One of Japan’s most iconic retail companies, with nearly 200 years of history, now building an in-house tech team from scratch.
We’re replacing vendor-dependent systems with in-house engineering, building enterprise platforms from the ground up.
Modernizing legacy systems.
Designing cloud-native architecture.
Automating business workflows.
Bringing AI into a company that has relied on vendor contracts for decades.
This is the kind of work I’ve been chasing.
Sogo & Seibu has roots going back to 1830. Acquired by Fortress Investment Group in September 2023, it’s now betting on in-house engineering to transform how the business operates.
The team is international by design. Engineers from Japan, USA, France, Myanmar, and Indonesia collaborating on systems that will define the next decade.
I’ll be in the Systems Department, focused on application development, building the tools and platforms that power the business from the inside.
One chapter ended.
Another one begins.
After leading cloud migrations at enterprise scale and shipping production features for millions of users, this feels like the natural next step.
Not maintaining. Not migrating.
Building.
Excited to get started.
