Late birthday gift to myself 🎂🥳
I’m officially AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate!
This marks my fifth Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification, and it’s easily the most data-centric one yet.
In a world where everyone’s racing to become an AI engineer, it’s easy to overlook the unsung heroes powering those models: Data Engineers.
Pursuing this certification gave me a deeper understanding of their critical role in our AI-driven landscape.
Unlike my previous certifications focused on development and architecture, this one took me deep into data lakes, ETL pipelines, Data engineering and real-world analytics on AWS.
This journey sharpened my skills in:
Designing modern data architectures with S3, Glue, and Athena
Building scalable ETL pipelines using AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions
Query optimization and data warehousing using Amazon Redshift
Managing metadata and schema evolution with Glue Data Catalog
Handling partitioned datasets and Parquet formats
Securing and automating data workflows across storage, compute, and analytics
Monitoring, debugging, and scaling data pipelines in production and many more.
This cert ties together so many core AWS services empowering me to build cost-effective, secure, and scalable data platforms in the cloud.
Huge thanks to Stéphane Maarek and Frank Kane for their top-notch resources and practice content. It helped me focus on what truly matters for the exam. 🙏🙇♂️
If you’re working with cloud data pipelines or preparing for this cert, I highly recommend it.
Let’s connect, learn, and keep building!
