Made it just in time before it gets replaced by the new CloudOps Associate!
I’m officially AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
Issued by Amazon Web Services (AWS)
This marks my sixth AWS certification, completing the AWS Associate-level trifecta (Solutions Architect, Developer, and SysOps).
I know this certification is being retired soon and will be replaced by the new AWS Certified Cloud Operations – Associate. Since I had already scheduled it and been preparing for it for quite some time, I decided to go ahead and I’m glad I made it just in time before it gets replaced!
Unlike my other associate certs, SysOps dives deep into monitoring, operations, and automation focusing on the real-world management of AWS workloads.
Key areas I sharpened my skills in:
Deploying, managing, and operating workloads on AWS
Implementing monitoring and alerting with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and EventBridge
Automating operational tasks with AWS Systems Manager and CloudFormation
Managing high availability, fault tolerance, and backup strategies
Performing incident response and troubleshooting
Securing workloads with IAM, KMS, and network configurations
Optimizing cost and performance through best practices
This certification reinforced my understanding of the day-to-day operational excellence needed to keep AWS environments reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
Big thanks to Stéphane Maarek for providing spot-on training material that made the preparation process smooth and focused.
